The Ministry of Justice is amending the Law on Free Access to Public Information

At  the premises of the  Ministry of Justice , there was  a  meeting today  and it was decided that  there is need for amendments to the Law on Free Access to Public Information. The meeting, besides the Minister of Justice, Bilen Saljiji, was also attended by the President and the Deputy Chairman of the Commission for Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information, Gjorgji Slamkov and Blerim Iseni, as well as by  representatives of several  non-governmental organizations , and by the representatives from the Independent Trade Union of Journalists and Media Workers.

 

Minister Saljiji said that  in accordance with the Government of the Republic of Macedonia's Conclusion,  a working group will be formed in the near future, which will review all the submitted proposals for amendments to the Law submitted to the Ministry of Justice by the non-governmental organizations and the Commission for Protection of the Right to Free access to public information after the public debate on possible changes in the Law on Free Access to Public Information before the end of last year.


At today's meeting it was said that the amendments that will be adopted will improve the application of the Law and will increase transparency and the presence of  public in the work of the institutions. At the same time, Minister Saljii emphasized that the activities undertaken are only one more confirmation of the determination of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia for transparency in its work and uninterrupted informing of citizens about its  work and the work of the institutions in the country.
